Program Description
Students are invited to create unique mono-prints using foam boards, pencils and acrylic paint. Students will sketch out ideas for their prints on scrap paper. Once they decide on a good design, they will prep their foam boards by imprinting designs with pencils. They will be provided paints to make their prints using brayers to fill their blocks with color, we will lay the paper over and hand-press to create unique prints. Students are invited to discuss their work and to interpret each other’s work positively and encouragingly. Moriah will work with educators to fit this workshop to complement the curriculum. The workshop could be an interpretation of the studies in their classroom. Moriah will tailor the drawing lessons to fit the curriculum with the teachers. It can also be that this workshop can be a de-stressor for students, and Moriah will guide the printmaking process for this kind of experience. This workshop can be completed with a class of students in two sessions: Workshop 1 introduces samples, history, and printmaking techniques, and directs the students to design their boards. Workshop 2 continues creating the boards, and making our prints with our materials (brayers, paint, printing press, and paper). Moriah will tailor to 60-minute sessions or 40-minute periods as necessary to your timing.
