Program Description
Award-winning author/illustrator and social-emotional learning specialist Paul Rodriguez focuses 25 years of character development and anti-bullying into an intensive Social-Emotional Learning unit of study. Let’s Go Emo uses five stories to explore the five CASEL core SEL domains of Social-Emotional Learning: Self-awareness, Self-management, Responsible Decision Making, Relationship Skills, and Social Awareness. The individual workshops offered here can also be combined into a residency. The program helps learners discover, explore, and understand challenging personal and social issues, from cultivating positive self-talk to navigating the complex social world of their school community. The text and illustrations of each book provide a safe space to engage in Q&A conversations and sharing. Finally, students engage in arts activities such as 3-panel comics (beginning/conflict, middle/pause & ponder, & end/resolution) to DIY Pearls of Wisdom board games.
