The ProbSov (The Problem Solver): Learning How We Learn

One of the greatest lessons we can teach our children is how to teach themselves. The ProbSov (Problem Solver) is a customizable educational strategy in the form of mazes and puzzles. It combines Social-Emotional Learning with Executive Function and Mindfulness to introduce young minds to a 6-step process for learning how to learn. Through puzzle-solving and art activities, these disciplines are used to help your learners discover, understand, and develop the essential learning skills of Mindfulness, Focus, Courage, Brainstorming (Creativity), Initiative, and Grit. During the last three sessions, students demonstrate these skills by converting one of their drawings into an original maze. Instructional tools and techniques include teacher-assessment charts, self-assessment cards, mazes, 3D puzzles, sequential steps, reverse engineering, trial and error, and hand signs for each learning skill. Tracking their progress with self-assessments, the students learn to employ these skills with greater clarity and purpose in school and in life.
