Program Description
From Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Women” to the author’s original pieces on womanhood to popular songs that uplift and empower young females, and individuals who identify as females or non-binary, this program is a celebration of individuality, independence and the unique traits that give each student their own spark. This multidisciplinary program offers an observation of common stereotypes and social issues around body image, hair, and behaviors that affect an individual's self-esteem, social interactions, and overall sense of belonging and acceptance. Thought provoking, uplifting, and fresh, this original program invites young participants to look deeper into themselves, their identities and past traumas, to find comfort, gratitude and growth. Participants will compose their own original pieces on the theme presented and/or complete a self-reflection scrapbooking exercise. Materials will be provided. 20 students per session, to maximize time and offer individualized attention to participants. Includes 20 journal notebooks ($120 value) **Program addresses sensitive topics (such as: body image, mental health & discrimination)**
