Program Description
Learn how to engage your students and promote teamwork in your art classroom with the use of various types of tape in classroom activities, understand how Tape artists use light boxes, and make connections to the outside world by showcasing your student's Tape art! Tape art, as the very title suggests, is based on the usage of tape as the prime medium for the production of various artworks inside and outside of the classroom. Deriving from urban art in the 1960s, this specific subgenre gained autonomy throughout the century. Regardless of the surface, (wood, cardboard, glass, plastic, etc.) tape layering can result in fascinating two- or even three-dimensional compositions. Tape art is easy to install and remove without leaving a permanent mark, and covering or masking is not necessary, making it perfect for the Competency-based Education (CBE)art classroom. This professional development is a hands-on Tape art activity that will instruct teachers on how to advance students based on their ability to master skills or competencies in the arts at their own pace. Tape art instruction is tailored to meet different learning abilities and can lead to more efficient student outcomes.
