Program Description
A 5-day residency in which students perform a play in which Goldilocks is on trial. Students gain the following. Introduction to the basic elements storytelling and the legal system including the following. 1.Understanding the classic fable Goldilocks with storytelling concepts such as rising action, climax, falling action, plot, character analysis, and more. 2.Understanding the function of criminal laws in American society. 3.Defining the criminal act and the various crimes that are implicated in the story. 4. Understanding the goal of a criminal trial. 5. Exploring the participants of a trial and their roles 6. Describing the goal of a trial by jury. 7.Discussing potential prejudice in the legal system surrounding race, color, & gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status, employment status, age, education, and geography. Outcomes: Improved Reading Comprehension. Increased Higher Order Thinking and Making Inferences. Enhanced Empathy in Identifying Characters' Points of View. Improved Public Speaking. A director will show up in person to direct the show. However, an online curriculum which accompanies a workbook is also provided.
