Program Description
World War II was the deadliest conflict in human history, with around 50 million people dead. In this class students will learn how over 25,000 Native Americans served in the military during World War II. Some of these people served as ‘code talkers’ who used secret codes based on the native Navajo language to pass messages through the military so that the enemy could not understand those messages. In this class students will learn the code and make their own code using a code sheet and special beads.
