Describe the way(s) this program impacts your students learning and how this arts experience correlates with your curriculum: |
The Memory Project brings both artistic and social/global appreciation to students by allowing them to learn about needy children in another country, a bit about their culture and quality of living, and allowing students to reach these children through an artistic outlet – painting children's portraits. Portraits are able to be drawn or painted, based on the level of the students and teacher/advisor comfort level and flexibility. This can allow students to grow into their own artistic voice at the high school level, while recognizing the global impact their art can have. Learning that their art can help others is an important lesson... it's not just about creating work for yourself only.
