Describe the way(s) this program impacts your students learning and how this arts experience correlates with your curriculum: |
|
This program enhanced student learning by providing hands-on experiences with authentic and replicated Native American tools and artifacts. Students used mortars and pestles, explored fire-making with fire drills, and used pump drills to better understand early technology. These activities brought history to life and helped students develop a deeper understanding of how Native Americans lived and used natural resources.
The pottery component allowed students to learn traditional Native American techniques while creating their own pieces, encouraging creativity and an appreciation for cultural traditions.
This experience supports the curriculum by strengthening social studies content, connecting to science concepts such as tools and natural resources, and incorporating the arts. It also promotes engagement, critical thinking, and experiential learning, making it accessible for a wide range of learners.
