Describe the way(s) this program impacts your students learning and how this arts experience correlates with your curriculum: |
Students at PLC are finishing the school year doing a Latin American music unit. The performers brought many of the topics we discussed in our unit to life. They were able to see live instruments, authentic traditional clothing and listen to quality music. They were exposed to new dancing and lots of Spanish language. Not only did this correlate with the music unit we were doing, it connects to many topics about respecting and honoring everyone's differences; as we learned in the program, the entire Hispanic culture is based upon the melding of traditions and music of other cultures. We learned about how many different influences Hispanic dance and culture took on and were encouraged to see the beauty in this type of culture-based joint effort.

Suggestions to artists for improvements: |
|
We loved the spontaneous student dancing at the end of the second performance, would definitely suggest adding in a guided "Free dance" opportunity at the end of all performances! It was so much fun.
